Terms of Service

A note on who we are. BloodBridge is a non-profit, open-source community project run on a small personal budget. We do not charge users, run ads, or sell data. These terms exist because Indian intermediary rules apply to any platform that hosts user content, and because clear ground rules keep donors and recipients safe.

These terms govern your use of BloodBridge (the “Service”), available at bloodbridge.live and any future domains we operate. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What BloodBridge is — and is not

  • BloodBridge is a discovery platform that helps recipients find voluntary blood donors near them. It is an “intermediary” under the Information Technology Act, 2000.
  • BloodBridge is not a blood bank, hospital, or medical service. We do not collect, test, store, or supply blood. All medical screening and the actual donation happen at a licensed blood centre or hospital.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract under Indian law to use the Service. If you register a donor profile, you confirm that you meet the eligibility criteria summarised in our Health Notice.

3. Voluntary, unpaid donation only

Under Section 27 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and the National Blood Policy, the sale or purchase of human blood is a serious criminal offence in India. On BloodBridge:

  • You must not offer, ask for, or accept money, gifts, or any other consideration in exchange for blood.
  • You must not act as a “professional donor”.
  • Any account that solicits or offers paid donation will be removed immediately and may be reported to authorities.

4. Acceptable use

While using the Service you will not:

  • Impersonate another person or provide false information.
  • Harass, threaten, spam, or stalk other users.
  • Scrape, mass-export, or otherwise harvest donor information for any purpose other than finding a donor for a real medical need.
  • Attempt to break our security, RLS rules, rate limits, or to reverse-engineer parts of the platform that are not open-sourced.
  • Use the Service to publish unlawful, defamatory, or sexually-explicit content.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you post (donor profile, requests, messages). You grant us a non-exclusive licence to host and display that content as needed to run the Service. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you post; we may remove content that violates these terms or Indian law.

6. Intermediary status & takedown

We act as an intermediary and do not pre-moderate user content. If you find content that is illegal or violates these terms, write to ankit@bloodbridge.live. We will act within the time-frames set by the IT Rules 2021.

7. No medical advice; no warranty

BloodBridge does not give medical advice. Donor information is self-declared and not verified by us. You agree to confirm fitness to donate or receive blood with a qualified medical professional and at a licensed blood centre. The Service is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, to the maximum extent allowed by law.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, BloodBridge and its maintainers are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, or from any act or omission of another user. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law (such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by gross negligence).

9. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from your profile. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, applicable law, or that pose a safety risk to other users.

10. Governing law & disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to mandatory consumer-protection rules, the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these terms.

11. Contact

Email: ankit@bloodbridge.live.

12. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified on the site and via email where appropriate. Continued use after the change means you accept the new terms.

This is a community-drafted v1. Being non-profit does not exempt us from Indian intermediary or contract rules, so we are publishing this best-effort version while we wait for a practising lawyer to review it. It is not legal advice.
